VYAHRTIMANTRAH.
This Mantra consists of the Mahavyāhrtis भूः भुवः, सुवः, and their combination, these being generally repeated with the Pranava. Its repetition is intended to propitiate Visņu.

ओं भूः ओं भुवः ओं सुवः

अस्य श्रीव्याहृतिमन्त्रस्य प्रजापतिः ऋषिः, गायत्री छन्दः, परमा
त्मा श्रीहरिर्देवता; श्रीहरिप्रेरणया श्रीहरिप्रीत्यर्थे जपे विनियोगः ।

ओं भूर्भुवस्सुवः इति प्राणा
यथाशक्ति नियमेन व्याहृतिमन्त्रजपङ्करिष्ये- -ओं भूः ओं भुवः ओं सुवः ओं भूर्भुवस्सुवः -- इति जपः । उपसंहारः पूर्ववत् ॥

This Mantra is addressed to Krsna conceived as the cowherd, who, while lying in the cradle playfully, killed with a kick a certain Asura or demon, who, under the orders of Karsa, assumed the form of a cart with a view to crush to death under its wheels the child Krsna.
