This mainly treats of the greatness of Siva and His worship, and of the wearing of Rudrakṣa beads and sacred ashes, denounces the practice of branding the body with the marks of conch and wheel, the emblems of Viṣṇu, and the wearing of the Urdhvapuṇḍra, and gives various stories to prove the superiority of Siva to Viṣṇu.
