A DESCRIPTIVE CATALOGUE OF
This is a dictionary which gives ayainst cach word the meanings given to it by various lexicographers, quoting the authorities in many cases. The words are arranged in alphabetical order in relation to their final letters. Words baving the same final letters are arranged according to the number of syllables found in them; and among them the order is determined by the initial letters. This seems to be a compilation by the Pandits of the College of Fort Saint George. It is dated 1821. It consists of 3 Vols. The first ends with Nänta or words ending in UT; the second with Mânta ; and the third with Hānta. A list of the lexicons, which are referred to, or quoted in the work, is given in the first page. This list is said to have been composed by Mamidi Vēnkațărya, son of Võnkatarāyā. For oxtracts see nder the next number.
