समुदितानामभ्यासः क्रियते सः समाम्नायः वर्णानां समाम्नायो वर्णसमाम्नायः सोऽधिकृतो वेदितव्यः । सोऽयं पूर्वशिष्टैरुपदिष्टः तथा हि
खराः स्पर्शास्तथान्तस्था ऊष्माणश्चाथ दर्शिताः । विसर्गानुस्खारळाश्चानुनासिक्याः पञ्च चोदिताः ॥ शुद्धवर्णे त्वचामादौ यद्युच्चादिः प्रयुज्यते ।
संविद्यात् खरवर्णन्तमेतदेवास्य लक्षणम् ।। शुद्धवर्ण इति । शुद्धवर्णे केवलवर्णक्रमोक्तौ अचाम् अकाराद्यौकारपर्यन्तानां स्वराणामादौ प्रथमतः उच्चादिः उदात्तादिस्वरः प्रयुज्यते यदि तं तथाप्रयुक्तोदात्तादिस्वरविशिष्टवर्ण स्वरवर्ण संविद्यात् स्वरवर्णक्रममिति सम्यग्ज्ञेयमित्यर्थः । अस्य स्वरवर्णक्रमस्य एतदेव लक्षणं एतावदेव लक्षणम्।।

This work gives three lists of certain pairs of words in the Yajur-veda, which are phonetically fused together and have a long vowel (1) at the end of the first word, or (2) at the beginning of the second word, or (3) both at the end of the first word and the beginning of the second word. The object of the work is to be of help in the learning of the Padapātha.
