Remarks-In the opinion of Dr. Burnel, the work has two recensions with different names and the author is Vararuci (Vide p. 1615, Vol IV. D. C. S. M. Tanjore.) It is evident from the introductory verse in Ayyasastri's Saptasvara Sindhu that the sage Phulla was one of the Sutrakaras and that he treated the Vedic accents in his sutras (aphorisms) "श्रीमत्फुल्लमुनीन्द्रसूत्रमधिकं श्रीप्रातिशाख्यं मुहुः योथादेवस्तावे" In commenting upon the above line he says: "आचार्यस्य भगवतो वररुचेर्वचनानि विस्पष्टार्थानि अल्पग्रन्थानि च / नात्र तिरोहितमिवास्ति" Ganesa, another commentator on Phullasutra in his commentary called Phullapota gives the following verse : For Private and Personal Use Only
