MANTRIVARA RAJAGURU GODAVARA MISRA: From the account of the family of Golavara given above, it is cloar that his forefathers were renownel for their vast learning and scholarship and played an important part in the development of Dharmasastra literature, revival of sacrificial rituals and popularising the dectrine of ca, in Utkala. Gadavara who was a versatile scholar not only maintained the glorious tradition of his family, but also contributed more than his forefathers to the different branches of Sanskrit literature. For the revival of the Vedic sacrifices he performed Vajapoya, Saratpaundarika and Sarvatomukha sacrifices e.g., OTETITt, zyragoge ist, Faalgen lit, Alfafait urat, which is known froin the colophops of his जयचिन्तामणि, . After his father he became the Rajaguru of Gajapati Prataparudra Deva sonetime after 1510 A. D., According to his family tradition ho was honoured with the title of '71iaciada, by Gajapati. Purushottama Deva, because he could cause a heavy flood in the river Golavari all on a sudden by his miraculous power obtained from Hatart which helped the Gajapati in gaining victory at the time of his expedition against the Raja of Kanchipura. This tradition is coroborated by the actual use of the title of 'izraciazia' in his wrazarafor'. For his vast learning, uncommon talent and mastery (farm) in Tantra, Pratuparudra lateron appointed him as his (afiaat) or prime minister, which was the most coveted post of dignity and honour in the State.
