The index has been carefully revised and enlarged (p. 622-36). A brief outline of the Life of Colin Mackenzie and of the steps taken to catalogue and utilize his collection (p.vii-xviii). The collection is now mostly in the Oriental & India Office Collections of the British Library, London. Originally the catalogue was published under the same title by the Asiatic Society, Calcutta in 1828 in two Volumes. (cliv, 357; 148, cclxix, 14 p.)

Earlier these mss. were catalogued by H.W. Wilson, and William Taylor in 1828 and 1862 respectively. The collection (catalogued by Mahalingam) is now housed in University of Madras.
