charity, self-restraint, sacrifice, study of the scriptures, control of one's limbs and body, straightforwardness, truth, non-anger, tranquillity, compassion, uncovetousness, softness, bashfulness, spiritual lustre, courage, purity, love towards all, absence of pride On the contrary, he denounces the practice of certain qualities that go to form the demonic heritage, i.e., hypocricy, pride, arrogance, anger, harshness, ignorance, etc.? Jñanes'vara states like the Gītā that the practice of the qaulities making the Divine heritage leads to liberation and that of the demonic qualities leads to further bondage.
The philosophy of Jñānes'vara is described as 'Intellectual Mysticism' by Ranade. Along with knowledge Jñanes'vara emphasizes the need for sincere and wholehearted devotion to the Supreme Self. God can be realized only by singular devotion to Him. It is not possible to reach God by means of the Vedas, austerity, and charity. What is, therefore, necessary, is the wholehearted and pure devotion to God; God would certainly accept any trifling thing like a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water; God would certainly be extremely pleased to accept such offerings, provided that they are offered with the most sincere and pure devotion.
