and by that achieve the final state of mukti.' The pus;ibhaktas sustain on the grace (anugraha294) of Krşņa, and therefore, puş;ibhakti is known as that which issues from the special favour or grace of God. It is characterised by the complete absence of desire for any object other than the essential nature (svarūpa-F764) of God (Bhagavān). The pusţibhakti leads to the attainment of the earthly Claukika-ai)and heavenly (alaukika--if ) things. The pustibhakta, therefore, totally surrenders himself to the Divine and relies solely upon the grace of God to achieve his final end. The Maryādāmārgiya devotees, on the contrary, exert much to qualify themselves for the final attainment by acquiring scientific knowledge of the S'ịtis and by vigilantly practising moral virtues and Yogic practices to purify themselves. They believe that when they are thus qualified they become worthy of the Divine grace and God gives to them deliverance most lovingly.
Vallabha further recognises four forms of pustibhakti — (i) pravāha Pustibhakti (SCTE gfeafi) - it is the path of those who, while engaged in a worldly life with their me and mine, which is compared to a stream (pravába), do acts calculated to bring about the attainment of God; (ii) Maryada pustibhakti (Hitat greu ) of those who, withdrawing their minds from worldly enjoyments, devote themselves
