universal annihilation of everything in the state of their Nirvāṇa as it is pointed out by Jayanta Bhatta in his Nyāya Manjari. What ceases to exist in the state of liberation, according to the Nyāya Vais'eşikas is pain and the various states of consciousness and not the soul itself, nor in the least the eternal particles of the ultimate substances, which enjoy everlasting existence.
