The present volume of the Descriptive Catalogue of Manuscripts (Volume I, Part II : Upanişads ) was compiled by the late Professor P. K. Gode, long-time Curator of the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, and the press-copy of it had been lying with the Institute for the last few years. Owing to various difficulties, mainly financial, we could not send it to the press until recently. We are now glad that it has become possible to publish this volume in the year of the Diamond Jubilee of the Institute, particularly because it gives us an opportunity to pay, on the occasion of this important landmark in the history of the Institute, our tribute of respectful gratitude to Professor Gode, who, as is well known, had devotedly dedicated his whole life to the service of Indological research through this Institute.
