The present text deals with Āhnikakānda, one of the following 5Kāndas of Prayogapārijata, viz., Samskāra, Pakayajna, Adhāna, Ahnika and Gotrapravaranirnaya. The author, Nțsimha or Narasimha, was a native of Karnāțaka and belonged to Kaundinya gotra. According to Haraprasād Shāstri, the work was compiled under the patronage of Dalapati Rājā, whose wife Durgāvati fought with Akbar's Generals.
