PREFACE
The present volume which comprises the third and the last part of the Descriptive Catalogue of the Vedanta Manuscripts in the Government Oriental Manuscripts Library at the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, Poona, is being published after a pretty long time since the publication of the second part of the Catalogue in 1955. I am glad that with the publication of the present part of the Descriptive Catalogue of the Vedanta Manuscripts in the Government Manuscripts Collection, most of the manuscripts of the Vedanta section thereof will be available for study to scholars interested in the philosophical literature in Sanskrit.
It is really unfortunate that my friend and co-worker Dr. P. K. Gode with whom I had the privilege to work on various projects for over a quarter of a century and who as the Curator of the Bhandarkar Institute was mainly responsible for my work on the present catalogue is not amongst us when its final part is being published.
The authorities of the Bhandarkar Research Institute and its staff deserve my thanks for their constant co-operation with me during the course of the preparation as also of the printing of the Catalogue. Dr. M. M. Patkar, as in the previous volumes, has been closely associated with me in this work; he not only assisted me in preparing some of the preliminary work, but also in the reading of the proofs; it is a debt which is not easily paid. Shri S. R. Sardesai, Manager, Samarth Bharat Press, Poona, also deserves my thanks for the efficient printing of the catalogue, which requires complicated type of printing.
Poona 1st July 1963.
S. M. KATRE.
