The work is a summary of the rules laid down by old Smrtikāras in 118 verses, by Mahadevavid, son of Kāhnajit. It is based on prose materials collected by Raghurama, son of Jayarama, in Velavatapura. It was composed in Sam. 1709 and its commentary in Sam. 1710

प्रणम्यैकरदं देवं शारदां गुरुमेव च । कालनिर्णयसिद्धातं व्याख्या कुर्वे विशदोक्तितः ॥१॥ प्राज्ञैरायैदपधैर्निबंधाः कलप्ता नाना वेदशास्त्रार्थविद्भिः । भास्वरस्वेतेष्वर्थ संदर्शनार्य दीपाकारा मेलसिवुजरास्यात् ॥२॥ etc.
