Gobhilasmști No. 226 Size.- 111 in. by 5t in. Extent.- 23 leaves ; 11 lines to a page; 33 letters to a line. Description.- Country paper ; Devanāgari characters ; handwriting
legible; paper old, worn out and musty.
The work is divided into 3 prapäthakas, 1st containing 150 verses, 2nd, 171 and the 3rd, 170. Our Ms. has got number 133 of the last verse, which is due to mistake in numbering. In the 3rd chapter, after 33, the next half of the verse is numbered as 34, next verse to it is unnumbered and next to that starts the numbering 2, 3, 4 and so on. Our text is quite identical with the text of Gobhilasmrti printed in the Anandāśrama Series for reference, see below). This work is attributed to Katyayana
or Gobhila and it is also called Chandogapariţişta. Age.- Appears to be old. Author.-- Kātyāyana or Gobhila. Begins.- fol. 15.
नमः सामवेदाय ॥ अथातो गोभिलोक्तानामन्येषां चैव कर्मणां । अस्पष्टानां विधि सम्यक् दर्शयिष्ये प्रदीपवत् ॥ १ ॥ त्रिहदूदुववृतं कार्य तं तु त्रयमधोतं । त्रिवृत्तचोपवीतं स्यात् तस्यको ग्रंथिरिष्यते ॥ २ ॥ पृष्टवं शेचनाभ्यां च धृतं यद्विंदते कटिं ।
तद्वार्थमुपवीतं स्यानानलंबननोरिछूतं ॥ ३ ॥ etc. .......... . Ends.- fol. 23.
साक्षतं सुमनोयुक्तबुदकं दक्षिसंयुतं । अयं दधिमधुभ्यां च मधुपको निधीयते ॥ ३२॥ कांस्यैनैवाहणीयस्य निनयेदय॑मंजलौ।
कास्यापिधानं कांस्यस्थं मधुपकं समर्पयेत् ॥ १३३॥ इति श्रीकर्मप्रदीपे तृतीयः प्रपाठकः॥ ॥३॥ श्रीरस्तु॥
