good; one line in red ink on either border; marks of punctuation in red ink. __It is a small version of Ausanasasmrti in 52 verses. There are different recensions of this work, some in 5 chapters, others in 6, 7 or 9 chapters. For references, see No. 217. Our text deals with mixed castes%3; curiously enough it is called first chapter in the last colophon, although the work is complete as printed in the Anandā.

॥ श्रीगणेशाय नमः। अतः परं प्रवक्ष्यामि नृणां जातिविधानकं। अनुलोमविधानं च प्रतिलोमविधिं तथा ॥१॥ सांतरालकसंयक्तं सर्वे संक्षिप्य चोच्यते। नृपाब्राह्मणकन्यायां विवाहेषु समन्वयात् ॥२॥ जातः सूतोत्रनिर्दिष्टर प्रतिलोमविधिर्द्विजः।
वेदानहुंस्तथा चैषां धर्माणामनुवांधकः ॥३॥ etc. Ends.- fol. 30.
सच्छूद्रं च विजानीयादसच्छूद्रमतोन्यथा। चौर्यास्काकं वचो ज्ञेयः अश्वानां तृणवाहकं ॥५॥ एतत्संक्षेपतः प्रोक्तं जातिवृत्तिविभागशः।
जात्यंतराणि दश्यते संकल्पोदित एव तु ॥५२॥ इति श्रीओशनसे धर्मशास्त्रे जातिवृत्तिविभागो नाम प्रथमोऽ,
