1884-87 The work consists of three chapters. The colophons at he end of each chapter (called Patala) has इति शांडिल्ये. Unfortunately Aufrecht does not record any ms. under this name nor is its mention found in any of the Descrip. tive Catalogues. The work starts with a dialogue between Brahman and Sankara. The former questions the latter about the mantra with its composition and the way of recitation and the worship of Dakşiņāmurti (another form of Siva ). The three chapters deal with the reply of
Sankara. Age.-- Appears to be fairly old. Author.- Anonymous. Begins.- fol. 8.
श्रीमत्कैलासशिखरे रम्ये सानुगतं शिवं ॥
अभिवंद्य महातेजाः पप्रछ कमलासनं ॥१॥ ब्रह्मोवाच ॥
देवदेव महादेव जगतामीश्वरेश्वरा ॥ दक्षिणामूर्तिमंत्रं मे वक्तुमर्हसि सांप्रतं ॥ २॥ कीदृग्रूपं भवेत्तस्य किं वा छंद ऋषिश्च कः॥ का देवताप्यनुष्टानं प्रकारः कोथमेव दा ॥३॥ इत्याकर्ण्य वचस्तस्य विधातुः प्रणयान्वितः ।
प्रत्युवाच महातेजाः शंकरस्तत्प्रियेच्छया ।। ४ ।। etc. Ends.- fol. 170
