GULISTAN (A didactic composition)
Foll. 156; size 21.5 x 13.5 cm; paper; Nast'aliq script; Persian; dated A.D. 1564. Author: Shaikh S'adi, scribe : Muhammad Bāqir.
The fly-leaf has a pear-shaped Imperial seal of Shahjahan; the manuscript is written in a most exquisite hand and has decorated margins with rich floral and animal designs in gold.
The manuscript is of great historical value inasmuch as it bears two inscriptions of Shahjahan. According to the one, he ordered deposit of the manuscript in his personal library as a volume of the first category, while the other shows that he presented it to his first son, Dārā
