________________ were built during the time of Udayāditya and Naravarma. Asādhara4 was a profound scholar of Jainism. He lived for a long time, to the middle of the thirteenth century A.D. and wrote a number of books on Jainism. He makes mention of five kings during his life time, Vindhyavarma, Subhatavarma, Arjunavarma, Devapāla and Jitugideva. Devadhara was the head of the Jaina monastery at Ujjain.2 Growing popularity of Jainism is reflected in the numerous temple remains found at Badon, Gyāraspur, Bhilsa, Budhichanderi, Narwar, Padhaoli, Bithla, Rakhetra, Suhania, Dubkund, Gandharwa and Badwani. The old holy places of Jainism existing before the fourteenth century A.D, are known from the Vivieba-tirtha of Jinaprabhasūri who mentions Kudumgeśvara of Ujjain, Abhinandanadeva at Mangalpura, śupārsva at Daś.ipura and Mahavira of Bhāilasvā. migadha.3 Sasanachatustrimśatikā of Madanakirti also refers to Abhinandana Jaina of Mangalāpura in Malwa. Jayānanda in the Pravāsagit mentions Lakshmi which is situated in the forest near Nimbara,5 At a distance of one hundred and seventeen kilometres from Dahod, there is a holy place named Talanpur whose ancient name was Tuigipattan.
