________________ Legacy of Virchand Gandhi and Jaina Philosophy 233 Virchand Gandhi left an imprint in India and in the Western world that will always be remembered. Jaina Philosophy Today, Jainism along with other faith is participating in the interfaith dialogue and building a bridge of unity. We the Jains would like to share our thoughts and beliefs. The Jaina philosophy of ecological harmony which is virtually synonymous with the principle of non-violence the Central theme of Jaina philosophy, is running through the Jaina tradition for centuries. In the twentieth century, the most vibrant and renownedexample was Mahatma Gandhi who was much impressed by the principles of Jaina philosophy. The discipline of non-violence, deeply influenced Mahatma Gandhi and it altered the course of Indian history. Martin Luther King, Jr. followed the example of Mahatma Gandhi, and it altered the value of human rights in the United States. This is the largest contribution that any religion has made for the betterment of human life and human value. The principle of non-violence is not just for human beings, but, for all living beings.
