Bhojadeva about A.D. 1010. Thus Mahasena must have been writing about the end of the 10th Century. The prasasti furnishes us with the following genealogy of the author :
Muni Jayasena T

Mahasena Süri (the author.
All the Prakrit works by Nemichandra noticed in the Catalogue are well known. They all deal with Nemichandra. Jain Siddhanta, for a sound knowledge of which this author has been famous as Siddhanta-chakravarttın. A very good account of the author and his works will be found in Professor Saratchandra Ghosal's introduction to his Dravya-samgraha published in the "Sacred Books of the Jain Series". Nemichandra is said to have been the preceptor of Chamupdaraja, the minister of Kachamalla, a king of the Ganga dy nasty, who is believed to have reigned from A.1, 975 to 984. This Chamupalaya is the author of a Kanarese work "bamungaraya-purana" completed in Saka 978 A.D. He also established the colossal image of Gommatesvara at Vindhyagiri. This he did, according to Bahubali-charita in the Kalki year 600 named Vibhava Samvatsara on Sunday, the 5th of Chaitra Sukla, when the auspicious Mrigasira nakshatra was current. These details work out correctly for the Saka year 951 whose cyclic name was Vibhava, the exact equivalent being Sunday, the 23rd March 1029 A.D). It we take the Kalki era to begia trom the reign of Kalki Chaturmukha, who according to the statement in the "Trailokya pajñapti" (cf. above) died in Nirvana Samvat 1000 after a reign of over 42 years, we get 1000-44 + 600-527=1029 A.D, for the establishment of the image, but this date does not work well with the dates given above for achamalla. Professor Ghosal equates the date mentioned in Bahubal-charita with Sunday, the 2nd April 980 A.D but according to Swami Kannu Pillai's ludian Ephemeris aud April in that year fell on a Friday and not Sunday and the tithi current was 14th Sukla of Chaitra and not 5th. The cylic year was Vikrama and not Vibhava. Nemichandra is stated to have written Gommaṭasara and other works for the instruction of Chamupdaraja. But Brahmadeva, the commentator on Dravya-samgraha, declares that Nemichaudra wrote the work during the reign of Bhojaueva ot Dhara who came to the throne in A.D. 1010, Al Beruni found him him reigning in 1030 A.D. Again Nemichaudra in his Karnakanda makes obeisance to several sages as his preceptors. These are Abhayanandi, Vita andi, Indraua..di and Kanakanandi. One Viranandi is the author of "Chandraprabha kavya" (ef. Catalogue), but the date of its composition is not known. Yet it is very nearly proved that he preceded Nemichandra, as Vädiraja Sari who
