The name of the author Srichandra occurs in the colophon of each Sandhi.
In the prasasti (ct. extract) the author tells us that he wrote about the time of king Mälarāja of Anhilawada. In the Chālukya dynasty of Anhilawāda, two Mälarājas are known to have reigned, the first from A.D. 941 to 996 and the second from A.D. 1176 to 1178, enjoying only a. brief reign of two or three years (of. Duff's chronology). Srichandra must have been a contemporary of one of these, very probably of the first,
