author's name has been inferred from the Mangalācharana of the work, which runs as follows:--
In the introduction to the work it has been asserted that Lakshmichandra and Virachandra were disciples of the author Jbānabhushana, who has been identified with the author of Tattvaithanatarangini. This is, however, a misunderstanding which has been cleared by the prasasti found at the end of the Karañjā manuscript of Siddhäntasära-bhashya. It is as follows:
The last page of the manuscript on which the praśasti must have been continued is missing. Though some ambiguity is created by the last two verses it is sufficiently explicit from the foregoing lines that the work was wricten by Sumatikirtti and it was only corrected and revised by his preceptor Jñanabhushapa.
The difference in the genealogy of this Jñanabhushana, the preceptor of Sumatikirtti, on the one hand and that of the author of Tattva-jnanatarangint on the other leads us to the conclusion that the two are not identical, but have to be distinguished. This is further established by the fact that Sumatik irtti wrote the Karmakā uda-bhashya in V. S. 1620 and su his Siddhantasăra-bhashya must also have been written and revised by his preceptor about this date. Thus there is a gap of about 80 years between the composition of Tattvajñanatarangini and that of Siddhäntasara-bhashya. This is very probably the Sumatikirtti who was contemporaneous with Subhachandra and
