असुहो सुहो व गुणो ण त भणइ बुज्झ म ति सो चेव ।
णय एइ विणिग्गहिउ बुद्धिविसयमागय तु गुण ॥३८०॥ Asuhu suhova guno na tam bhanayı ujjhamanti so cheva Naya cyı viniggahiyum buddhivisayamāgayam tu gunam (380)
अशुभ शुभो वा गुणो न त्वा भणति बुध्यस्व मामिति स एव ।
न चैति विनिर्ग्रहीतु बुद्धिविषयमागत तु गुणम् ॥३८०॥ 380 The bad or good quality (of an object) does not of its own accord say to thee, “Think of me ” Even when the quality reaches the organ of thinking (mind), it does not arrive there to seize your attention (by force)
असुह सुह क दव्व ण त भणइ बुज्झ म ति सो चेव ।
णय एइ विणग्गहिउ बुद्धिविसयमागय दव्व ॥३८॥ . Asuham suham va davvam na tam bhanayı ujjhamantı so cheva Naya eyi viniggahıyum buddhivisayamāgayam davvam (381)

न चैति विनिर्ग्रहीतु बुद्धिविषयमागत द्रव्यम् ॥३८१॥ 381 A bad or good substance does not of its own accord say to thee, “Think of me" Even when the (1dca of) substance reaches the organ of thinking (mind) it does not arrive there to seize your attention (by force)
एव तु जाणि दव्वस्स उवसमणेव गच्छइ मूढो।
णिग्गहमणा परस्स य सय च बुद्धि सिवमप्पत्तो ॥३८२॥ Evam tu jānı davvassa uvasamam neva gachchhyi mudho Niggahamanā parassaya sayam cha buddhim sıvamappatto

एव तु ज्ञातद्रव्यस्य उपशमनैव गच्छति मूढ ।
विनिर्ग्रहमना परस्य च स्वय च बुद्धिं शिवामप्राप्त ॥३८२॥ 382 Thus devoid of a clear understanding of the nature of the objects of knowledge and incapable of abstaining from external influence and himself not attaining mental happiness, the ignorant person does not go along the path of peace.
