Why one waddles in wealth and opulence and another starves to death ? If God created one to enjoy the pleasures of life which the world can afford to supply with and another to labour life-long under the stiffling, tyrrany of his master, how could he be an embodiment of All-love and All-mercy ? Need she be told in the language of the poet that “A God All-mercy is a God Unjust."
Christianity teaches that man has but one life on earth to live either for an eternal exis
Mercy made tence in Heaven or to be condemned into Hell according to the merits or demerits of his deeds. But this naturally encourages a man to make the most of his opportunities here. Besides an appeal for mercy at the hands of an Omnipotent God best suits him who has consciously failed in the discharge of duties. But the great disadvantage of such form of faith is that it makes some violently reckless so much so that when the poet Henri Hein was asked if he believed in Divine Grace, he replied, "God will forgive me, for that is his profession".
