And while the Buddhists and the Vaisheshikas admit of only two Pramânas viz. Perception and Inference ( प्रत्यक्ष and अनुमान), the Sankhya School acknowledges three i. e. Testimony() in addition to the previous two. The School of the Nyaya Philosophy adds Analogy ( 317 ) to the above three and thus admits of four only. The Prabhakar School accepts Implication (afofa) as an additional means and thus agrees to five Pramanas. two Mimånsakas, Purva and Uttara ( and grant six, adding Non-existence ( प्रभाव ) ; and finally, the Pouranikas taking Tradition (fa) and Probability (a) into consideration, acknowledge that the sources of knowledge are after all eight in number.
