PREFACE.
In attempting to state the Jaina theory of . God, my object has been purely that of a dispassionate student of Comparative Thcology. Nothing has been farther from my aim than to denounce the theory of God, held by any religious scct. My objcct has been to give a short description of the Jaina theory of God and to show in what respects it is similar to and in what respects it is different from the other thcological doctrines. It is hoped that this short essay may tend to create some interest in scholars in the study of the Jaina philosophical thought.
