The Yakşas, Yakşis, Śāsana-devas, Sasana-devis, Dik-palas, Ksetra-pālas, Bhairavas, Vidya-devis, Sarasvati, Lakşmi, Ganga, Yamuna. apsarases, dundubhi-vădaka, câmara-dhärins, camara-dhärin is, etc., all being the celestial ones, and the human figures like Vidyadharas, Bhaktas, etc., can be seen depicted as attendants to the Tirtharkaras or in various parts of the temple.
SYMBOLIC TEMPLES
The temple in itself is a symbol, though in a general sense. In particular the temple can be seen in various architectural formations like those of Nandiśvara-dvipa, Astăpada (fig. XLVI), etc., but some of the formations are only described in the canons and are nowhere physically represented.
Some of the formations like stūpa, caitya-vāsa, nişidhikā, etc., may or may not be taken directly into the category of temples as such, but, after all,
