PREFACE
Lord Buddha once told his disciples, "Oh Bhikshus! You should not consider my preachings as Gospel Truth, because to do so is traditional or they are popular or because they sound beautiful, or because they strengthen your faith or because I am reverred or take the truth for granted, but only when your heart and your reasoning logically accept them as truth" I would like to repeat the above in connection with my book "Jain Philosophy and Modern Science" in order that the reader may not turn a cold shoulder to it just because the writer is seither a Doctor of Philosophy nor of Science. He should evaluate the subject matter on the basis of his impartial judgement.
Having been enunciated in the Jain tradition, PhiIosophy has naturally been my special subject of study but somehow I am very much attracted and interested in studying the ever new pronouncements of Modern Science also. I have thus been devoted to their study for the last fifteen years.
