उसमें विकार-भावोंके पैदा होनेसे उसके उस असली स्वभावका घात हो जाता है। बस इस स्वभावका घात होना ही हिंसा है। इन सूखे फलोंके खानेमें उसे अधिक राग-भाव है । इसलिए वह, इन रागभावोंके निमित्तसे अपनी हिंसा करता है ॥ १९५॥
मद्यपान-निषेध। पीते यत्र रसाङ्गजीवनिवहाः क्षिम नियन्तेऽखिलाः । कामक्रोधभयभ्रमप्रभृतयः सावद्यमुद्यति च ॥ तन्मयं व्रतयन्न धूर्तिलपरास्कन्दीव यात्यापदं ।
तत्पायी पुनरेकपादिव दुराचारं चरन्मजति ॥ १९६ ॥ जिस मयकें रससे उत्पन्न हुए अथवा जिनके समूहसे वह मद्यका रस बना है ऐसे अनेक जीवोंके समूहके समूह उस मद्यके पीते ही मर जाते हैं। इसके पीनेसे काम, क्रोध, भय, भ्रम आदि तथा पाप उत्पन्न करने वाले परिणाम पैदा होते हैं । इसलिए उस मयका त्याग करनेवाला पुरुष धूर्तिल नामके चोरकी तरह आपत्तिको प्राप्त नहीं होता है, लेकिन मद्यपायी पुरुष एकपाद नामके सन्यासीकी तरह अगम्य-गमन, अभक्ष-भक्षण, अण्ये-पान आदि दुराचारोंका सेवन करता हुआ. संसार-समुद्रमें डूबता है-दुर्गतिको जाता है। भावार्थ-मद्यक पीनेमें भी द्रव्य-हिंसा और भाव-हिंसा-दोनों तरहकी हिंसा होती है। मद्य पीनेवालोंकी बड़ी बुरी दुर्गति होती है । इसमें प्रत्यक्ष अनेक दोष देखे जाते हैं ॥ १९६ ॥
आस्तामेतद्यदिह जननी वल्लभां मन्यमाना । निन्द्यां चेष्टां विदधति जना निस्त्रपा पीतमद्याः॥ तन्नाधिक्यं पथि निपतिता यत्किरत्सारमेयात् ।
वक्त्रे मूत्रं मधुरमधुरं भाषमाणाः पिबन्ति ॥ १९७॥ खैर, जीभके लोलपी होकर द्रव्य-हिंसा और भाव-हिंसाको कुछ नहीं समझते हैं तो जाने दीजिए, परंतु ये दोष जो प्रत्यक्ष देखने में आते हैं उनपर तो जरा गौर कीजिए । इस संसार में कितने ही निर्लज्ज मनुष्य मदिरा पीकर विह्वल हुए अपनी जन्म देनेवाली माताको अपनी प्यारीकाम-प्रेयसी समझकर उससे बड़ी निंद्य चेष्टाएं करते हैं। यह इतनी अधिक आश्चर्यकी बातःनहीं है, कारण कि जो लोग मद्य पीकर रास्तेमें गिर पड़ते हैं और मुंह फाड़कर सीधे बीच सड़कोंमें पड़े रहते हैं उनके मुंहमें बिल समझकर कुत्ते पेशाब कर देते हैं। उसे वे लोग बड़ा मीठा है, बड़ा मीठा है-ऐसा कह कह कर बड़े चावसे पीते हैं । भावार्थ-कहनेका तात्पर्य यह है कि मदिरा पीनेवाले बुरेसे बुरे कायोको करनेमें तत्पर रहते हैं। उन्हें किसी भी विषयके हेयोपादेयकी सुधि नहीं रहती। यदि ऐसे घृणित कार्य करनेवाले भी नीच न कहे जा कर एक पंक्ति और एक पत्तलमें बैठकर भोजन-पान करनेके योग्य समझे जावेंगे तो नहीं मालूम नीच शब्दका प्रयोग ही कहाँपर किया जायगा ! जिस उद्देश्यको लेकर
