________________ ३७ होता। स्वामी समंतभद्रद्वारा यदि उस पद्यकी रचना हुई होती तो वे, अपने ग्रंथकी पूर्व रचनाके अनुसार, वहाँपर किसी पुरुष व्यक्तिका ही उदाहरण देते -स्त्रीका नहीं; क्योंकि उन्होंने ब्रह्मचर्याणुव्रतका जो स्वरूप 'न तु परदारान् गच्छति' नामके पद्यमें 'परदारनिवृत्ति' और 'स्वदारसंतोष ' नामोंके साथ दिया है वह पुरुषोंको प्रधान करके ही लिखा गया है। दृष्टान्त भी उसके अनुरूप ही होना चाहिये था। (६) परिग्रह परिमाणव्रतमें 'जय' का दृष्टांत दिया गया है। टीकामें 'जय'को कुरुवंशी राजा 'सोमप्रभ'का पुत्र और सुलोचनाका पति सूचित किया है । परन्तु इस राजा 'जय' (जयकुमार) की जो कथा भगवजिनसेनके 'आदिपुराण में पाई जाती है उससे वह परिग्रहपरिमाण व्रतका धारक न होकर 'परदारनिवृत्ति' नामके शीलवतका-ब्रह्मचर्याणुव्रतका धारक मालूम होता है और उसी व्रतकी परीक्षा में उत्तीर्ण होनेपर उसे देवता द्वारा पूजातिशयकी प्राप्ति हुई थी। टीकाकार महाशय भी इस सत्यको छिपा नहीं सके और न प्रयत्न करने पर भी इस कथाको पूरी तौरसे परिग्रहपरिमाणनामके अणुव्रतकी बना सके हैं। उन्होंने शायद मूलके अनुरोधसे यह लिख तो दिया कि 'जय' परिमितपरिग्रही था और स्वर्गमें इन्द्रने भी उसके इस परिग्रहपरिमाणवतकी प्रशंसा की थी परंतु कथामें वे अन्ततक उसका निर्वाह पूरी तौरसे नहीं कर सके। उन्होंने एक देवताको स्त्रीके रूपमें भेजकर जो परीक्षा कराई है उससे वह जयके शीलव्रतकी ही परीक्षा हो गई है । आदिपुराणमें, इस प्रसंगपर साफ तौरसे जयके शीलमाहात्म्यका ही उल्लेख किया है, जिसके कुछ पद्य इस प्रकार हैं अमरेन्द्र सभामध्ये शीलमाहात्म्यशंसनं । जयस्य तस्प्रियायाश्च प्रकुर्वति कदाचन ॥ २६ ॥ श्रुत्वा तदादिमे कल्पे रविप्रभविमानजः । श्रीशो रविप्रभाख्येन तच्छीलान्वेषणं प्रति ॥ २६ ॥ प्रेषिता कांचना नाम देवी प्राप्य जयं सुधीः । . . . .. . . स्वानुरागं जये व्यक्तमकरोद्विकृतेक्षणा। तदुष्टचेष्टितं दृष्ट्वा मा मंस्था पापमीदृशं ॥ २६७ ॥ . सोदर्या स्वं ममादायि मया मुनिवरागतं । परांगनांगसंसर्गसुख मे विषभक्षणं ॥ २६८॥ Jain Education International For Personal & Private Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
