गुणादिपरिचय । उन्हें प्रायः इसी विशेषणके साथ स्मरण किया है। यद्यपि और भी कितने ही आचार्य ' स्वामी' कहलाते थे परंतु उनके साथ यह विशेषण उतना रूढ नहीं है जितना कि समंतभद्रके साथ रूढ जान पड़ता है-समंतभद्रके नामका तो यह प्रायः एक अंग ही हो गया है । इसीसे कितने ही महान् आचार्यों तथा विद्वानोंने, अनेक स्थानों पर नाम न देकर, केवल 'स्वामी' पदके प्रयोग द्वारा ही आपका नामोल्लेख किया है * और इससे यह बात सहजहीमें समझमें आ सकती है कि आचार्य महोदयकी ' स्वामी ' रूपसे कितनी अधिक प्रसिद्धि थी । निःसंदेह, यह पद आपकी महती प्रतिष्ठा और असाधारण महत्ताका द्योतक है । आप सचमुच ही विद्वानोंके स्वामी थे, त्यागियोंके स्वामी थे, तपस्वियोंके स्वामी थे, ऋषिमुनियोंके स्वामी थे, सद्गुणियोंके स्वामी थे, सत्कृतियों के स्वामी थे और लोकहितैषियोंके स्वामी थे।
