स्वामी समन्तभद्र। वे बड़े ही महत्त्वके हैं। आप लिखते हैं कि ' जिन्होंने परीक्षावानोंके लिये संपूर्ण कुनीति-वृत्तिरूपी नदियोंको सुखा दिया है
और जिनके वचन निर्दोष नीति ( स्याद्वादन्याय ) को लिये हुए होनेकी वजहसे मनोहर हैं तथा तत्त्वार्थसमूहके द्योतक हैं वे यतियोंके नायक, स्याद्वादमार्गके अग्रणी, विभु और भानुमान् (सूर्य) श्रीसमन्तभद्र स्वामी कलुषाशयरहित प्राणियोंको विद्या और आनंदघनके प्रदान करनेवाले होवें । ' इससे स्वामी समंतभद्र और उनके वचनोंका बहुत ही अच्छा महत्त्व ख्यापित होता है। गुणान्विता निर्मलवृत्तमौक्तिका नरोत्तमैः कंठविभूषणीकृता। न हारयष्टिः परमेव दुर्लभा समन्तभद्रादिभवा च भारती ॥६॥
-चन्द्रप्रभचरित। इस पद्यमें महाकवि श्रीवीरनंदी आचार्य, समंतभद्रकी भारती (वाणी) को उस हारयष्टि ( मोतियोंकी माला) के समकक्ष रखते हुए जो गुणों (सूतके धागों) से गूंथी हुई है, निर्मल गोल मोतियोंसे युक्त है और उत्तम पुरुषोंके कंठका विभूषण बनी हुई है, यह सूचित करते हैं कि समंतभद्रकी वाणी अनेक सद्गुणोंको लिये हुए है, निर्मल वृत्तरूपी मुक्ताफलोंसे युक्त है और बड़े बड़े आचार्यों तथा विद्वानोंने उसे अपने कंठका भूषण बनाया है। साथ ही, यह भी बतलाते हैं कि उस हारयष्टिको प्राप्त कर लेना उतना कठिन नहीं है जितना कठिन कि समंतभद्रकी भारतीको पा लेना-उसे समझकर हृदयंगम कर लेना-है । और इससे यह स्पष्ट ध्वनि निकलती है कि समंतभद्रके बचनोंका लाभ बड़े ही भाग्य तथा परिश्रमसे होता है ।
