Besides the differences noticed above, we find the arrival of the messenger with a message declaring war, the account of the birth of Hamzavāhana as the first child of Vasumati and its removal by a swan, the meeting between Vasumati and Vindhyasena in the forest, the account of the birth of Simhadamana to Vindhyasenā etc. in the Avantisundari, but all these are absent in Dasakumāracarita. Conversely, the dream of Vasumati before her conception, the sīmanta ceremony of Vasamati, the blessing given by Vámadeva relating to the birth of Rājavāhana and its confirmation by an aerial voice, are episodes which we find in Dasakamāracarita bat not in the Avantisandarī, where, however, we find Siva appearing before the king when he was faintiog and telling him that he would get two sons, the incarnations of Pradyamna and Samba and that the second son should be sent on a conquest of the world in his sixteenth year. We also find in the latter work the mention of a dream by Vasumati before her second conception in which it appeared to her that she was swallowing the whole earth. The first Magadha - Malava battle which is indicated by a single word 'grarcafaifaa ' in the Avantisandarī is described in 14 lines in the Dasakumāracarita. We also find a variation in the order of the acquisition of the children. While in the Avantigundari, the order is Apahāravarman, Upahāravarman, Puopodbhava, Devarakṣita and Arthapāla, in the Dašakumāracarita it is Upahāravarman, Apahāravarman, Puqpodbhava, Arthapāla and Somadatta.
The differences of the sort and to the extent noticed above between the Pūrvapîthikā of Dasakumāracarita and
