Glacial history

There are about 15000 glaciers in Himalaya that are shrinking fast and are losing 250 Km of ice each year. Nearly 40% of the humanity depends on the Himalaya glacial melt waters.
Many glacial lakes have been recorded in Tibet and Himalaya e.g. Lake Mansarovar and Rakshas lakes. Numerous major rivers e.g. Indus, Brahmaputra etc. have been originated from these lakes.
