we carry out such austerites as Tapa and Japa, all those efforts will be wasteful. Those two are bondages and we are bound by them. We cannot make any real efforts to attain moksha. Whatever endeavours we may make, we cannot progress ven a step on the path of moksha. So speech is the weapon with which we can cut off the bondage of the body and the bondage of samsar. How should we us to speech attain these objectives.
USING OUR SPEECH RIGHTLY:
Our speech is influenced by our food.
If we build a beautiful house, but if the foundation is weak, the house will collapse, Therefore, for anything we should lay a strong foundatian. Purity is the foundation for Dharma. If that foundation is strong the mansion of Dharma will stand solid and unshaken.
The mansion of Dharma coliapses, if the mind is shaken by passions. If the mind is not firm, our Dharma also will not be strong and firm.
Therefore, how should we speak in life? We should always speak in a brief and pointed manner. Our speech must have brevity and relevance.
Silence is the very life of spiritual endeavours. The word muni is obtained from the word maun which means silence.
