જન એટલે જીતનાર. Jain means conqueror.
જૈન ધર્મ એટલે આત્માનો સ્વભાવ Jain religion means the nature of the Soul.
આત્માને ઓળખે તે જન કહેવાય. One who understands the Soul is called a Jain.
આત્માને ઓળખીને અજ્ઞાનને જીતે તે જન. One who conquers ignorance by understanding the Soul is called a Jain.
આત્માના વીતરાગભાવથી રાગ-દ્વેષને જીતે તે જન . One who conquers the emotions of likes and dislikes by the pure nature of the
Soul is called a Jain.
જણે રાગ દ્વેષ ટાળયા છે તે જિનદેવ છે. The one who has completely removed the emotions of likes and dislikes is called
"Jinder".
