Letter 21
141 In our following letters we will study those seven Tattvas and find out as how we have been harbouring wrong concept and wrong beliefs about the nature of things. We have also to leam as to which of these Tattvas are Heya (or worth leaving or do away with ). Dnyeya ( worth knowing or understanding) and Upadeya (worth manifesting and taking refuge into them).
Among these seven Tattvas Punya gour or virtuous deeds and Paap 414 or sins or vices are included. In Asrava Punyasrava and paapasrava and in Bandha Punyabandha and Paapbandha are included. In the Jinagam some times Paap and Punya are mentioned separately and instead of seven Tattvas nine Padarthas are mentioned.
Whether you say seven Tattvas or nine Padarthas they are all same in nature. Only from the explanatory point of view they have been mentioned differently. Their detailed description follows in my next letter.
With love.
Your Mom.

Many Jeevas believe that, " What is the use of knowing * * the philosophy and scriptures? One has to do and practise * + some rituals and take up vows i.e. Vrata in one's daily life. +
Then only it will be fruitful ". Therefore, they are busy in doing
some or other Vrata, Tapa and rituals but they do not study the * Jain principles.
Really speaking without Tattva Dnyan, even conduct of Mahavratas is called Mithya Charitra. But after gaining Tattva Dnyan one becomes Samyak Drishti inspite of his not taking up any Vratas and vows.
Therefore first of all try to acquire Tattva Dnyan and then * * try other remedies to reduce Kashayas.
