Mixing appetitive with aversive send conflicting message to the brain and digestive system and body's enzyme release for digestion gets confused. An acid process (gastric digestion) and an alkaline process (salivary digestion) cannot be carried on at the same time in an ideal way in the stomach. Food such as fresh fruits, vegetables and foods rich in certain fatty acids may foster a healthy immune system, while carbohydrates and fats provide energy and take longer time in digestion.
