________________ Ratnakarandaka-śrāvakācāra आरम्भसङ्गसाहसमिथ्यात्वद्वेषरागमदमदनैः । चेतः कलुषयतां श्रुतिरवधीनां दुःश्रुतिर्भवति ॥ ७९ ॥ सामान्यार्थ - आरम्भ, परिग्रह, साहस, मिथ्यात्व, द्वेष, राग, अहंकार और काम के द्वारा चित्त को कलुषित करने वाले शास्त्रों का सुनना दुःश्रुति नाम का अनर्थदण्ड है। Listening to literature that has stories of occupations, worldly possessions, daring acts, crooked beliefs, hatred, affection, pride, and sex-passion, that defile the purity of the mind, is to be known as listening to undesirable stories (duḥśruti), the fourthnamed limb of purposeless sinful activity-anarthadanda. EXPLANATORY NOTE ācārya Amrtacandra's Purusārthasiddhyupāya: रागादिवर्द्धनानां दुष्टकथानामबोधबहुलानाम् । न कदाचन कुर्वीत श्रवणार्जनशिक्षणादीनि ॥ १४५ ॥ One should never listen to, collect, or learn, evil stories that arouse passions such as attachment, and are largely nonsensical. 130 Jain, Vijay K.
