* They are called suklâni, white or pure, because they are not mixed with Brâhmanas, avyâmisrâni brâhmanena (doshair asankîrnâni, paurusheyatvadoshadvârâbhâvâd ityarthah). Or they are ayâtayâmâni, unimpaired. Anandagiri adds, Pragâpatim ârabhya Sâñgîvîputraparyantam (No. 36) Vâgasaneyisâkhâsu sarvâsv eko vamsa ityâha samânam iti. Dvivedaganga says: Vâgisâkhâvakkhin
