But vayas is a living being and payas is a material thing, therefore they cannot be similar The only similarity being that these are like-sounding words. Sarva valdharmyopaneet upamaan (analogical knowledge based on complete dissimilarity) is exactly opposite of Sarva sadharmyopaneet upamaan (analogical knowledge based on complete similarity) in qualitative sense; that relates to virtues whereas this relates to vices. In order to express the extreme meanness of a person analogy of a mean person is given.
