अजीव सम्बन्धी होने से अनेक भिन्न प्रकार के हैं, तथापि यहाँ पंचेन्द्रिय जीव सम्बन्धी संस्थान का उल्लेख है।
(१) समचतुरस्त्रसंस्थान - शरीर के नाभि से ऊपर और नीचे के सभी अंग-प्रत्यंग प्रमाणोपेत होते हैं। आरोह- परिणाह ( उतार-चढ़ाव ) अनुरूप होता है। शरीर अपने अंगुल से एक सौ आठ अंगुल ऊँचाई वाला होता है, यह समचतुरस्रसंस्थान होता है । पलहत्थी मार कर बैठने पर जिस शरीर के चारों कोण (कोने) समान हों, उसे समचतुरस्र संस्थान कहते हैं ।
(२) न्यग्रोधपरिमंडलसंस्थान - न्यग्रोध- वटवृक्ष का नाम है। इसके समान जिसका मण्डल (आकार) हो अर्थात् जैसे न्यग्रोध - वृक्ष ऊपर में सम्पूर्ण अवयवों वाला होता है और नीचे वैसा नहीं होता। इसी प्रकार यह संस्थान भी नाभि से ऊपर विस्तार वाला और नाभि से नीचे न प्रमाण वाला होता है।
(३) सादिसंस्थान - नाभि से नीचे का भाग परिपूर्ण हो और नाभि से ऊपर का भाग हीन होता है, वह सादि संस्थान है।
(४) कुब्जसंस्थान - जिस संस्थान में सिर, ग्रीवा, हाथ, पैर तो उचित प्रमाण वाले हों, किन्तु हृदय, पीठ और उदर प्रमाण-विहीन हों, कूबड निकली हुई हो वह कुब्जसंस्थान है।
( ५ ) वामनसंस्थान - जिस संस्थान में वक्षस्थल, उदर और पीठ लक्षणयुक्त प्रमाणोपेत हों और हाथ-पैर आदि छोटे हों, वह वामनसंस्थान है। सामान्य व्यवहार में ऐसे संस्थान वाले को बौना कहा जाता है।
(६) हुंडसंस्थान - जिस शरीर में सभी अवयव टेढ़े-मेढ़े बेडोल व बेढब हों ।
Elaboration-Samsthan (structure), akar ( shape), and akriti (shape) have similar meanings. A sequence of these structures or shapes is called Samsthana-anupurvi (structural sequence). As structures cover beings and non-beings both, they are of numerous different types. However, here only those related to five sensed beings, specifically human beings, are mentioned. Thus these are anatomical structures or constitution of body.
(1) Samachaturasra Samsthan-An anatomical structure of a human being where all the parts of body above and below the navel are of standard dimensions. The dimensions increase and decrease proportionately. The height of the body is 108 times the width of a finger (angul). When parallel lines drawn from the extremities of a body sitting cross-legged form a square, the anatomical structure is called Samachaturasra Samsthan.
