O Jain and Buddhist scriptures are filled with stories of king YAP O Shrenik. Historians say that king Shrenik belonged to Haihay R A T O family and Shishunag dynasty. A T O In Buddhist scriptures, we find two names—‘Seniya’ and RAT ‘Bimbisar’. In Jain literature, we find Seniya, Bhimbhsar, 0 SAP Bhambhasar and other names. Shrenik was an extremely devoted O A P disciple of Mahavir having ideal, unflinching faith in Him andhis 0 faith was Kshayik (i.e., leading to perfection—having no element of :YAP O doubt etc. or desire for any other faith). His wife was the youngest A P O daughter ofking Chetak ofVaishali who wasa follower ofBhagavan a A I Parshvanath. It was the influence of Chelana that made Shrenik, PO AO a.tiRP interested in Jina Dharma and readyto get initial knowledge from DW a O RP Anathi Muni. He was so much devoted to Bhagavan Mahavir that at LNA io O the time of initiation of his son Megh Kumar, he said— VREP RI oO “The Nirgranth Dharmais the truest ofall, it is complete and ideal. O RIP LYE oO It is the only path leading to salvation.” Shrenik had proclaimed in O VAP his kingdom—“If any one desires to be initiated near Bhagavan s O 0 T R Mahavir, the king shall not stand in his/her way.” Influenced bythis E lPO o s announcement, his ten sons—Jali, Mayali and others got initiated iGRP oO whoselife-story is mentioned in this Sutra. Even after the death of o MIP Oo Konik, when Mahavir came to Champa city, Shrenik's ten ° ; YRP grandsons—Padma, Mahapadmaandothersgot initiated.
