१८. पतन-किसी बड़े मान्य राजा अथवा राष्ट्र-पुरुष का निधन होने पर जब तक उसका दाह-सस्कार न हो, तब तक स्वाध्याय नही करना चाहिए अथवा जब तक दूसरा अधिकारी सत्तारूढ न हो, तब तक शनै -शनै स्वाध्याय करना चाहिए।
१९. राजव्युद्ग्रह-समीपस्थ राजाओ मे परस्पर युद्ध होने पर जब तक शान्ति न हो जाए, तब तक और उसके पश्चात् भी एक दिन-रात्रि स्वाध्याय नही करे।
२०. औदारिक शरीर-उपाश्रय के भीतर पचेन्द्रिय जीव का वध हो जाने पर जब तक कलेवर पडा रहे, तब तक तथा १०० हाथ तक यदि निर्जीव कलेवर पडा हो तो स्वाध्याय नही करना चाहिए।
अस्वाध्याय के उपरोक्त १० कारण औदारिक शरीर सम्बन्धी कहे गये है।
२१-२८. चार महोत्सव और चार महाप्रतिपदा-आषाढ-पूर्णिमा, आश्विन-पूर्णिमा, कार्तिक पूर्णिमा और चैत्र-पूर्णिमा ये चार महोत्सव है। इन पूर्णिमाओ के पश्चात् आने वाली प्रतिपदा को महाप्रतिपदा कहते है। इनमे स्वाध्याय करने का निषेध है।
२९-३२. प्रातः, सायं, मध्याह्न और अर्ध-रात्रि-प्रात सूर्य उगने से एक घडी पहले तथा एक घडी पीछे। सूर्यास्त होने से एक घडी पहले तथा एक घडी पीछे। मध्याह्न अर्थात् दोपहर मे एक घडी पहले और एक घडी पीछे एव अर्ध-रात्रि मे भी एक घडी पहले तथा एक घडी पीछे स्वाध्याय नही करना चाहिए।
इस प्रकार अस्वाध्यायकाल टालकर दिन-रात्रि मे चार काल का स्वाध्याय करना चाहिए।

APPROPRIATE TIME FOR STUDY OF SCRIPTURES Holy books should be studied only at a time as prescribed in the scriptures There are times when this study is prohibited.
In scriptures like Manusmriti etc. also the prohibited time has been described Vedic people also mention about this period in the Vedas Other Aryan holy books also agree to this particular period Jain scriptures too, as they have been associated with the omnipresent and established by the devas, are prohibited to be studied in that particular period, e.g,
As per the above scripture study, prohibited periods are ten relating to symptoms in the sky, ten relating to the physcial body, four relating to first day of the fortnight, four relating to full moon of the fortnight, four relating to waned
moon of the fortnight. ___Thus, 32 periods are forbidden which are briefly described below : RELATING TO SYMPTOMS IN THE SKY
1. If an important star has fallen, then the study is forbidden for three hours 2 If there is red colour in the sky then the study shouldn't be done 3. No study for 6 hours after thunder of clouds.
