श्रोता के १४ भेद १. शैलघन-चिकना गोल पत्थर मूसलाधार पानी बरसने पर भी भीगता नहीं है। २. कुडग-घडा। घडे भी कच्चे-पक्के यों कई प्रकार के होते हैं वैसे श्रोता के भी अनेक प्रकार हैं।
३. चालनी-कोई चालनी कचरा निकालकर दाना रख लेती है। कोई चालनी चावल वगैरा सार रखकर के छिलका-कचरा निकाल देती है।
४. परिपूर्णक (छन्ना)-दूध आदि छानने का छन्ना (गालना) की तरह के श्रोता कचरा रखकर सारा निकाल देते हैं।
५. हंस-हस जल छोड़कर दूध पी लेता है। ६. मेष-बकरी, भेड आदि किनारे का स्वच्छ जल पी लेती हैं। ७. महिष-भैसा पानी पीने के लिए पानी के बीच जाकर सारा पानी गदा कर देता है। ८. मशक-डांस-मच्छर, खटमल शरीर को काटकर रक्त पीते हैं। ९. जलूक-जलौका-जौक, शरीर का गंदा खून पीती है। १०. विडाली (बिल्ली)-बिल्ली दूध का बर्तन जमीन पर गिराकर फिर दूध पीती है। ११. जाहग-चूहे आदि बर्तन को नुकसान पहुँचाये बिना चुपचाप दूध आदि पी लेते हैं।
१२. गौ-कुछ लोग गाय की सेवा नहीं करके भूखी मारकर भी दूध चाहते हैं। कुछ प्रेमपूर्वक सेवा करके 卐 फिर दूध लेते है।
१३. भेरी-भेरी की तरह श्रोता भी दो प्रकार के हैं। १४. अहीर दम्पति-घी बेचने वाले अहीर दम्पति का दृष्टान्त गाथा ५१ के विवेचन मे पढ़ें।

2 Earthen pitcher- There are many types of listeners, as there are many types of earthen pitchers---unbaked, baked etc.
3 Sieve-Some sieve retains trash and allows grains to pass through and others retain grains and allow dirt to pass through.
4. Filter—There are listeners like the filter cloth used for filtering milk 5. Swan-It drinks milk and leaves water. 6 Ram-Goat, lamb etc drink clean water from the river-bank 7 Buffalo-To drink water a buffalo enters the water and spoils it 8 Mosquito-Mosquito and other such insects sting and suck blood 9 Leech-Sucks our contaminated blood. 10 Cat-Cat topples the milk-pot and then laps up milk
11 Rat-Rat sucks milk without harming the pot ___ 12 Cow-Some starve the cow and still want its milk Others take proper care and then only take its milk.
13 Trumpet--Like trumpet there are two types of listeners,
