उच्च-नाच मध्यम कुल के विषय में प्राचीन आचार्यों का स्पष्टीकरण इस प्रकार है• राजा आदि के राज भवन-सत्ता एवं संपदा की दृष्टि से उच्च कुल । • श्रेष्ठ, धनी व्यापारी आदि के भवन मध्यम कुल । • एक मंजिले छोटे झोंपड़ी आदि में रहने वालों के भवन नीच कुल कहे जाते थे । साधु इन सभी कुलों में सामुदानिक रूप में समभाव के साथ भिक्षा के लिए जाते थे ।

. Jaha Goyama Sami Java icchāmo...........
All these six uterine brother monks wished to move like Gautama Swami.
(The method of seeking alms of Gautama Swāmi. we get in Bhagavati Sūtra, Sataka 2, Uddeśaka 5.) Like him, all these six brother monks studied scriptures in the first prahara of the day, in second involved in meditation, in third peacefully watched cloths, mouth-cloth, utensils etc. Taking utensils came to the lotus feet of Bhagawāna and bowing down in due order asked the permission to wander in the city for seeking alms. Obtaining the permission began to wander in the city for seeking alms with peaceful mind and observing movement circumspection.
Regarding high-medium-low standard people, the clarification of ancient sages-preachers, is like this
(a) High (standard)-The palaces of kings, rulers, powerful persons etc. (b) Medium-Big houses of wealthy traders and rich persons. (c) Low-One storeyed houses, cottages of general public.
Sages used to seek alms from all these three types of houses and persons without any differentiation.

तयाणंतरं च णं दोच्चे संघाडए बारवईए णयरीए उच्च जाव पडिविसज्जेइ ।
