चित्रक्रम ५ : गौतम अणगार का निर्वाण
गौतमकुमार ने दीक्षित होकर स्थविरों के पास ग्यारह अंगों का अध्ययन किया। फिर भिक्षु प्रतिमा अंगीकार की तथा गुणरल संवत्सर तप किया। दिन में सूर्य की प्रखर किरणों के सामने वीरासन से बैठकर
आतापना के साथ तथा रात्रि में उकडू आसन से ऊर्ध्वबाहु होकर ध्यान करते हैं। अन्त में स्थविरों के साथ शत्रुजय पर्वत पर जाकर एक मास की संलेखनापूर्वक निर्वाण पद प्राप्त किया। देवताओं ने गौतम मुनि का । निर्वाण-महोत्सव मनाया।

Consecrated Gautamakumāra learnt eleven angas from elder sages, practised sage-firm resolutions and observed Gunaratna samvatsara austerity. In day time, sitting in Vīrāsana posture he grasped the heat of sharp sun-rays and in the night sitting with utkațuka posture and raising hands upwards meditated. At the nearing ending of his life he climbed mount Satrunjaya with elder sages and attained salvation with one month's Samlekhanā and gods celebrated salvationceremony of monk Guatama.
