चित्रक्रम १७ : गजसुकुमाल का वैराग्य
गजसुकुमाल ने पिता-माता से कहा-यह जीवन घास पर गिरी ओस विन्दु तथा जल तरंगों के समान चंचल है, अतः मैं शीघ्र ही संसार त्याग कर दीक्षा ग्रहण करना चाहता हूँ। यह सुनकर वसुदेव जी चिन्तित हो उठे
और माता देवकी तो मूर्छित होकर भूमि पर गिर पड़ीं। शीतल उपचार से स्वस्थ होने पर माता ने आँसू बहाते हुए कहा-पुत्र ! संयम ग्रहण करना भुजाओं से महासागर को तैरना और नंगी तलवार पर चलने जैसा अत्यन्त दुष्कर है, तुम बहुत सुकुमार हो

Gajasukumāla said to his parents. This life is transitory like a drop on the tip of grass; and waves of water; so I want quickly to accept consecration, leaving this world. Ilearing these words Vasudeva was worried and mother Devaki swooned and fell down on floor. After coming to senses by fanning etc., shedding tears the mother said-O Son ! To accept restrain is as difficult as to swim the ocean by arms and to walk on the edge of a sword. You are too tender.....
