चित्रक्रम १६ : गजसुकुमाल को वैराग्य जागरण __अर्हत् अरिष्टनेमि का उपदेश सुनकर गजसुकुमाल का मन संसार से विरक्त हो उठता है। वे कहते हैं-प्रभो ! जैसे किसी के घर में आग लगने पर वह अपनी सबसे मूल्यवान वस्तु को निकाल लाना चाहता है। वैसे ही मैं भी जन्म-जरा-मृत्यु की अग्नि से अपनी आत्म-मंजूषा को निकालकर आपके चरणों में मुंडित होकर संयम ग्रहण कर आत्म-कल्याण करना चाहता हूँ। वासुदेव श्रीकृष्ण आदि चकित होकर गजसुकुमाल की बातें सुन रहे हैं।

Hearing the religious sermon of Arhat Aristanemi, the heart of Gajasukunāla was filled with ascetic feelings. He utters-Reverend Sir ! If any house catches fire then its owner tries to take out his most valuable thing. In the same way, I also want to save my own soul from this world, burning by the fires of birth, old age death; and wish to purify my soul, after being tonsured on head at your lotus feet.
Vāsudeva Sri Krsna etc., are listening to the words of Gajasukumāla astonishingly.
